Goldenbrook Farm Senior Does
|
SHOWN OLDEST TO YOUNGEST
My does are all unique in there own ways, each becoming a special member of the herd. They have all been raised on our farm and all but 1 now has been born here. We maintain a closed doe herd to protect our herd's health and well-being. A closed herd means that since beginning, we have not brought in any other does, instead have bred and raised all the members of our herd here on our farm. We improve our herd through our bucks. Our bucks are from a very limited number of outside herds who are healthy and disease-free.

HES Score: Overall 87.9 (Very Good)
Udder Capacity 1 (Excellent)
Honey B is my baby and is the queen of the herd. She has the sweetest personality and is ultra easy to work with. She has been a wonderful mother and has raised all her kids easily with plenty of milk for us as well. Her udder is wonderfully capacious and is easy to milk. She has been complemented by many judges for here high production and strength of bone she must posess to be so productive.

(ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S X Rosasharn’s Baby USA2*D)
Dam: Oakdale’s Cleopatra
(OTR Magic’s M Hercules X Rosasharn’s Easter Bunny)
Bittersweet is a long bodied doe with a nice uphill stance, a level top line and lots of distance between her hips and pins. She excels in dairy character and her daughters do as well. She milks out completely and has more than doubled her milk production on her second freshening! She has a nice high rear udder attachment with plenty of capacity. She’s a really nice milker.

Sire: Honeysuckle Ridge DK Blue
(Ponders End DG Pillico X Prairie Woods Blue Socks)
Dam: Rosasharn’s Little Honey B
(ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S X Rosasharn’s Buckwheat Honey)
Periwinkle was my top pick of our 2004 kid does. She is a very well put together doe showing excellent conformation throughout. She exhibits an uphill stance with a strong front-end assembly, deep, wide chest and a beautiful, unbelievably level top line with exceptional width throughout her body. Her udder is capacious, smoothly textured and balanced. In 2005 she earned the first leg of her Championship winning Grand Champion Junior Doe. Her first year as a senior doe, she won Reserve grand Champion Senior doe. She is one of the richer personalities in our herd.

Sire: Honeysuckle Ridge DK Blue
(Ponders End DG Pillico X Prairie Woods Blue Socks)
Dam: Rosasharn’s Little Honey B
(ARMCH Goodwood Tom Thumb+*S X Rosasharn’s Buckwheat Honey)
Strawberry is my daughter, Sarah’s baby. She is a full sister to Periwinkle and has also had a great show season finishing up with Reserve Grand Champion (to her sister). She is also a well put together doe with very strong conformation. She is a bit more feminine and refined than her sister. She has a frosted nose and ears and a pretty white belt.

Sire: Honeysuckle Ridge DK Blue
(Ponders End DG Pillico X Prairie Woods Blue Socks)
Dam: Oakdale’s Cleopatra
(OTR Magic’s M Hercules X Rosasharn’s Easter Bunny)
Sweet is my son, Joey’s doe. She is a pretty white gold with blue eyes and very feminine. She has a nice body with plenty of depth in her barrel and a strong front-end assembly. Her top line is uphill with a nice smoothly blended shoulder and level in the chine and loin. Her legs are straight, although her toes do tend to turn out a bit. I’d also like to see more incurving of her thigh. Her udder is capacious, balanced and has a large area of attachment. Her teat are properly placed, shaped and delineated. Overall she is a nice doe and my son is very proud!

TOP-Minnie's 2nd freshening BOTTOM- Minnie as a kid |
GOLDENBROOK FARM
MINNIE BLUE
D.O.B.: 6 June 2004(quints-2/does, 3/bucks)
Sire: Honeysuckle Ridge DK Blue
(Ponders End DG Pillico X Prairie Woods Blue Socks)
Dam: Oakdale’s Cleopatra
(OTR Magic’s M Hercules X Rosasharn’s Easter Bunny)
Minnie doesn’t really know she is a goat and spends most of her time following me around. Her mother rejected her at birth because she was born with retracted ligaments in her forelegs. There just wasn’t enough space inside of mom for all five kids! We bottle raised her, did daily physical therapy and made walking splints from Popsicle sticks for her. Today you would never know that she used to walk like a spider! We have held off breeding Minnie because she was the smallest kid of the quintuplets and thought she needed more time to develop.
She is small, but a well built doe. A nice topline, open ribs, loose dairy skin and an incredible milker for such a small doe with nicely divided udder halves.

Kiki shows the same strength of conformation as both Periwinkle and Strawberry. She shows an uphill top-line, correct feet and legs, width in her barrel and femininity. She earned her first leg of her championship in 2006 with Grand Champion Junior Doe. She has been very productive as a first freshener and I anticipate her production to be terrific this coming year.

I actually sold this doe and then was happy to purchase her back a month later when her new owner was unable to keep her. Boy am I glad I did! Daisy is the most smoothly blended doe I have seen. She has all of the same strengths as Kiki but with more width throughout. She also has pretty blue eyes. Her udder is capacious, well attached and balanced. She really fills up her rear udder!

Dam: Goldenbrook Farm Bittersweet
(Rosasharn’s Tom F’U’lery *S X Oakdale’s Cleopatra)
Sire: Rosasharn FS Merlin
(MCH Twin Creeks WB Fire Storm *S X Rosasharn’s UK Witch Hazel)
This doe just says DAIRY. She has a very long, deep body, nice length between her hip and pin bone and width and levelness from thurl to thurl. Open ribbed and prominent dairy vertebrae. She has a nice uphill stance and a nice long dairy neck. If I had to fix one thing it would be her shoulder blades, which could be tighter with less movement. Her markings are ususually pretty too! She is a light fawn with splashes of gray and white. If you look at her back from above, she has a perfect crescent and star! Her dam is one of my favorite milkers, both for the quantity of milk she produces and the ease in which her udder milks out.
3rd Freshening Update! She is my #1 producing doe in my herd-absolutely wonderful!

This little girl is a rich beauty with a rich personality to match. Look at those markings! She is strong in conformation as well with clean legs, good body length, a nice neck and a pretty, feminine head. At her first show she placed first in a class of over 35 junior does! Her dam is one of my favorite milkers, both for the quantity of milk she produces and the ease in which her udder milks out. We have also retained her full sister, Goldenbrook Farm Bit of Heaven.

Sire: Rosasharn FS Merlin

Pistachio is styled very much like her dam, one of my favorite does. She shows great width between her hocks and has an incredible milk vein that was already evident as a young kid. She has an absolutely beautiful body-long & dairy. She is a light gold with gray moon spots and one gray foreleg. She has really become a great milker on her 2nd freshening and I say this when she is only 22 days fresh!

This is my son's doe and he's very excited. Beautiful cream-gray buckskin with a black cape and blue eyes. I'm excited to have another Tom F'U'lery daughter for my herd! I am very excited about her first freshening udder, plenty of capacity, well attached, nice and high, and easy to milk.
